Backgrounds for every story

The street, the café, the restaurant, the forest, outer space, the castle, the hospital, the throne room, the Japanese temple, the ruined city. With rain, night, snow and sunset. Many come with their seats ready: a park bench, a metro seat, the judge's chair. Plus a builder to compose your own, or start from your own picture.

Characters of every kind

Adults, children, animals, robots, monsters, and also the 1930s gangster, the flamenco dancer, the samurai, the geisha, the musketeer. Plus a builder to make your own animated characters: body shape, colours, clothes, accessories, wrinkles. You can even put your photo in place of the head: the face is found and framed on its own, the mouth speaks, and there you are in your own cartoon.

Movements and dances

Walk, run, jump, sit down, talk, be scared, cross your arms, make a phone call, fight, fall in love, among others. The dances land on the beat of the music in the scene. Shortcuts play a few of them live, and a studio lets you invent your own, pose by pose.

Voices, with the mouth following

Type a line, the device reads it out, and the character's mouth moves along. Or record your own voice with the microphone, the mouth follows too. You can even make a character sing over the film.

Music and sound effects

Sorted by mood: cheerful, epic, sad, horror, romantic, western, science fiction. The sound effects run from a slamming door to a cheering crowd, and a small composer lets you write the music yourself.

Props to place

Furniture, vehicles, musical instruments, food, decorations, among others. You drag them into the scene, you turn them, you put them in front or behind, and some settle on a table or a shelf all by themselves.

A real camera

Wide shot, medium shot, close-up, and a mode that follows a character. You drop camera keys on the timeline and the framing moves on its own, the way it does in editing.

Writing instead of clicking

You can also write your scene as prose, like a story, with the dialogue in quotes. Klapon reads it, picks the backgrounds, places the characters and builds the scene: an animated video maker that starts from plain text. All that is left is the fine-tuning.

Frame by frame (stop motion)

No need for a separate stop motion app: a scene can switch to frame by frame. You place, you take a photo, you move things a little, you take another photo. The previous photo stays translucent so you can aim the next one, and the camera, the sound and the text keep their own tracks.

Posing by hand

The Animate button puts handles on the shoulders, elbows, hands, knees and head: you bend what you like, you rotate the character, you raise or lower them. Every gesture and every setting lands on their track, one after another, and playback plays it all back.

Video export

MP4 or WebM, in 16:9 for YouTube, in 9:16 for stories and vertical video, or square. The video is made in your browser and lands in your downloads.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to draw?
No, and that is the whole point of Klapon. Everything is drawn already: backgrounds, characters, objects, movements. You compose, you do not draw.
Do I have to install anything?
No. Klapon is an online animation maker: you open it in your browser and you start. Nothing to download, no account to create, no address to hand over.
Does it work on a computer, a tablet and a phone?
Yes, in a recent browser: on a Windows PC, a Mac or Linux, on tablets and phones, Android as well as iPhone and iPad. The interface adapts to small screens. On iPhone and iPad you can add Klapon to the home screen with the browser's Share button: it then opens full screen, like an app.
Where are my films kept?
In your browser, on your device. Nothing is uploaded to the internet and nothing is public. You can save a film to a file to keep it elsewhere or move it to another device, and you can share a film through a link that contains the film itself.
Is there a subscription?
No. The free version stays free, and Klapon Pro is bought once, 14.90 €, with no renewal.
Can I publish my videos on YouTube, TikTok or Instagram?
Yes, there and anywhere else. Your films are yours, including the music and sound effects from the library, which are there to be used in your videos. The export offers the three usual frames: 16:9, vertical 9:16 and square.
Are the voices included?
Yes. You type a line and the device reads it out, with several voices available. You can also record your own with the microphone: either way, the character's mouth follows what is being said.
Is it an app for children?
Klapon is made for everyone, young and old alike. Children get on with it very well, and it is not a toy for all that: nothing is held back, and the same tools serve a thirty second sketch as well as a short film in several scenes.
Can it be used at school, in the classroom?
Yes. Nothing to install on the computers, no account for the students, and the films stay on the device that made them. A class can write a story, stage it and make its own animated film.
